Our first stop is at Genova. We wanted to look for some cheap toilet accessories. I.e. the 7pcs set. Unfortunately, the mirror they carry mostly have cartoon image on it. We didn't like them. There is one that we liked but it was out of stock. So it's kind of a wasted trip.
After that, we proceeded to Eng Soon Huat. We wanted to check out their toilet accessories set again. We reached there at 3pm. "AT", the sales person that attended to us yesterday, assisted us again today. After scanning through the items on display and some negotiation done by my wife-to-be, we decide to buy all our toilet accessories here, including the two 707 instant heater. The catch however, is that I had to pay in full by Cash. By 4pm, we left the shop few hundred dollars poorer but feeling much happier that we got what we wanted. =)
Due to our huge spending on lights, toilet assessories and dining set in the past few days, we came to a compromise that we have to sacrifice our sofa, and get a sofa bed first prior to getting our actual bed for customary. As such, our third and last stop for the day, Tampines Century Square. Wife-to-be want to check out what Seahorse Household has to offer. Hopefully they have decent and cheap sofa and sofa bed. After doing a quick browse through, a sofa caught our eyes but we didn't check it our immediately as we were both hungry. Filling our stomach is our priority. =P
After dinner, we went back to the shop. This time round, we really did all we can; test the sofa by sitting on it, knock on the frame to see if it is made of solid wood, lift up the cushion to check if there is spring under the cushion or just wood frame, ask about the colors that is available, etc. Eventually, we liked what we saw, especially the pricing, so we ordered one plus replacement cover. We also order from them a sofa bed with replacement cover as well. This purchase set us back another few hundred dollars. =(

Main cushion cover and sofa frame materials
The replacement cover for sofa's cusion. Supposed to be cream in color. I don't know why it looks pink here.

Our second stop is Royal Franco, Eng Soon Huat then followed by Poo Joo at Jalan Besar. These three outlets were pretty near each other. Didn't see anything we liked at Royal Franco, their 707 pricing is the most expensive of the three. At ESH, we notice that they sell matt stainless steel toilet accessories set. Their 707 pricing is the cheapest among the three. Finally, at Poo Joo, we really like their brass chrome toilet accessories set, especially the mirror. However, it is quite expensive. Their pricing for 707 is between what ESH and Royal Franco asked for.
By then, it's already 6.00pm and we couldn't make up our mind on which toilet set to buy. As such we decided to go home and think about it and come back the next day, on Sunday. -_-"
Our third and last stop is at Balestier. We wanted to come back to search for our dining and entrance foyer light. We dropped by LC Lighting at Shaw Plaza first because we identified a potential dining and entrance foyer light here. Bad news! The foyer light has been sold away 2 days ago. =(
So, we decided to walk all the way down to Palace Lights Pte Ltd to start our hunt again. They still have the foyer light that we saw the other week. After a little thought, we decided to take it. No picture for it now. I will take it once I get it installed.
We then walked around almost the whole stretch of Balestier again. By then we had in mind 3 possible candidate for the dining lights. In the end, we chose to go back to shop where we bought most of our lights. The final winner is below. Our first and only light that is not WHITE. =P
Our itineraries were packed today. After having a quick lunch at Funan Centre, we took a bus to our first stop, TEKA @ UE Square.
We intend to get an undermount TEKA kitchen sink as the model we are eyeing fit nicely into our kitchen layout. However, my wife-to-be hopes to fit the sink tap on the sink itself. I've called up a day earlier to enquire. The lady that I spoke to mentioned that there is a bit of space for doing that but we had to get our own plumber to drill the hole for the tap. Unconvinced, we just had to see for ourselves before buying it.
Anyway, once we were there, we spoke to a sales person named "CD". When asked if we can drill a hole in the sink to fit the tap, her immediate reaction is "Cannot". My heart sort of sank. I know that my wife-to-be doesn't want to install the tap on the kitchen top. And that means we might have to restart our search again. I am now waiting for her reaction. To my surprise, she says OK. Phew. All the anxieties are gone. =)
We subsequently bought a kitchen tap at TEKA as well. Here are some pictures showing how they look like and their dimensions.

The workers doing false ceiling will be starting work today. My ID assistant "C" told me she will be at our unit this morning so I arranged to meet up with her at 10am. I reached early at around 9.20am. So while waiting, I took some photos. At 9.54am, she SMS me saying will be late and will reach at about 10.30am. So I went down to Linear Green coffee shop to have breakfast. One bread, 2 eggs plus one iced coffee cost me S$2.20. Is that considered cheap?
Anyway, to cut the story short, I had a short discussion with her to clarify some issues and to communicate our ideas. Thereafter, the workers came and they start work after “C” gave them a briefing.
Without further ado, here is another set of photo updates. =)

First thing that I notice upon opening the door, the whole living & dining room, and passage-way flooring has been covered with cardboard protection. And NO, those are not MY foot prints. =P

The skirting are all up as well.

The kerb at the kitchen entrance has also been done.

Finally manage to take a picture of this elusive bottle. Did you manage to guess what it is for?

It is a type of stone impregnator / penetrating sealer used by the tile workers to act as a barrier to prevent water, oil and dirt from entering the pores of the stone. However, do note that impregnators do nothing to protect the top surface of the stone.

Notice this empty box left in the kitchen. Is it the dish rack that my ID is providing to us? If so, where is the content? hmm...

Fridge base has been done. 800mm x 850mm. It is just enough for us to put our targeted refrigerator.

Kitchen cabinet bases have been done as well. The one in this photo is for the cabinet at the Hob area. Its width is 550mm. No tiles were placed at the top surface as my ID say the cabinet will come with wooden flooring. The cabinet base at the opposite end can't be taken as there was countless no. of items stacked on top of it. But it looks the same as this one. The only difference is the width is 500mm only.

The washing machine base has been done as well. I had also highlighted to "C" that the tile lid cannot be lifted to access the sewage pipe cover below.

The skirting for Bedroom 2 has been done.

The skirting for Bedroom 3 has been done. Told "C" that I want to shift one of the power points just in case in the future need to place a queen size bed in that room.

The skirting for Master Bedroom has been done. Aircon trunking issues have been highlighted. The guys from Natural Cool will come again tomorrow to rectify them.

The worker starts to do marking for the false ceiling. Did you notice that red light on the left side of the photo? That device emits an infra-red line across the room on the walls. The worker uses it to do his marking. Impressive! =)

TADA! The red line I'm was talking about. Ok I know it's slanted. The worker is still trying to align it. ;)

Here it is again. "C" told me the workers will take 2 days to fix up the false ceiling. So if I come back on Sat, most likely it will have been completed. And painting will start on Monday. Yippee!!
I paid a surprised visit to our unit during lunch time around 1.30pm. Coincidentally, the workers doing flooring and false ceiling were at the gate.
The tilers were there to put up the skirting for the house.

I had no idea why the workers doing false ceiling were there for. I thought they are going to start working on the false ceiling even before the electrical wirings are done. o_O
I sorta panic and called up my ID's assistant "C". Guess what, "C" told me that those false ceiling workers are not supposed to be there in the first place. They are only to start on Thursday 20th Nov. After some verification, those guys are only bringing up their materials, not to start work. Phew! I had reminded them again that they are not to start until 20th Nov 2008.
In the same phone conversation, "C" assured me that the fan wiring can be shifted after L-box is up. "C" also confirms that a wiring will be done for the fan regulator.
I will be meeting up with "C" again on 20th with her workers. I’ve got to remember to highlight my concerns again regarding wiring, aircon trunking, etc.
